ASHRAE – Technical Subcommittee tc5.10 Kitchen Ventilation Meets Sunday!

Sunday, January 28, 2007 at 8:30 AM, members of ASHRAE’s tc5.10 Kitchen Ventilation Research Subcommittee meet once again. This time at the Adams-Mark Hotel in downtown Dallas, TX. Please join us if you have interest in one or more of these topics.

Reports include the following funded on-going research projects:

  • TRP-1362 Revised Heat Gain, Capture & Containment Exhaust Rates from Typical FS Appliances
  • TRP-1375 Grease Effluent Characterization from Additional Cooking Appliances

The following projects await ASHRAE funding, approvals, etc:

  • RP-1376 Evaluating Field Test Method for CKV Performance
  • Thermal Comfort in Commercial Kitchens

A new project will be discussed for submittal:

  • Analysis of Island Hoods

The following Long Term Research Projects will be discussed:

  • Make-Up Air Impacts on Hood Performance and IEQ
  • Thermal Plume Development and CFD Simulation of Hood Performance
  • Dishwasher CFM Requirements
  • Method of Test to Determine When a Type I Hood is Required
  • Enhanced Kitchen Load Calculation Manual

Future Seminar topics will be discussed as follows:

  • Analysis of Short Cycle Hoods
  • Variable Flow and Savings Potential
  • Odor Quantification and/or Reduction
  • When is Type I Ductwork Required?

Plus any other new business and discussion that may be presented.
