BAY AREA UPDATE – BAAQMD Announces New Hearing Date for Charbroiler Emission Regulations!
Breaking News! The Bay Area Air Quality Management District has just announced a new hearing date of May 16, 2007. Any comments should be submitted by May 7th. ULC CANADA CODES – Industry Newsletter Updates CKV Codes of Interest!

ICC – California Votes to Adopt International Building & Fire Codes!
California has voted to adopt both the ICC International Building Code and the International Fire Code as the basis for the state’s new codes. Both are scheduled to take effect in January 2008. Work will begin to adopt the International Residential Code during the summer of 2007. Building officials comprising both building and fire, architects, engineers, contractors, labor and the public make up the California Building Standards Commission.

FIRE CODES – Rhode Island After the Deadly Night Club Fire 4 Years Ago!
Foodservice Equipment Magazine reports that Rhode Island is reconsidering the tough fire codes enacted after the deadly nightclub fire in 2003. Discussions are on going after operators are testifying that the high cost of adding sprinklers is killing their business. Click here.

HOODLESS KITCHEN – Heard the One About the Headless Horseman?
Maybe there never really was a headless horseman, but the US now has its first ventilated ceiling installation in a new Westin Hotel in Minneapolis, MN. Author Mike Mitchelson wrote in Foodservice News in February that ventilated ceiling technology has arrived in the US. Click here for a link and then choose the top article under Publications. EDUCATION – Don Fisher Schedules CKV Classes for 2007 in California!
Don Fisher of Fisher-Nickel has scheduled CKV training classes for the year 2007 in California. The first is in San Ramon in June, the second in San Diego in October and the third in Downey in mid-November. All are half day classes beginning at 9 AM to Noon.
