Readers of this UP YOUR STACK® Monthly Newsletter were kept aware of the very promising talks between ICC and IAPMO expected to result in an end to the problems associated with having competing mechanical codes. ICC – ICC Announces End of Discussions Regarding Proposed Joint Codes!
On August 31, 2006, the ICC issued a very surprising news release announcing that ICC has ended their negotiations with IAPMO. Up to then, what appeared to be very fruitful talks to resolve their differences appeared to be working.This release was quite unexpected as all previous announcements stressed the positive nature of the many discussions. IAPMO – IAPMO Issues Statement of the Joint Venture Reversal!
The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials quickly responded to the ICC announcement that talks aimed at finding a way to combine the two codes had ended. IAPMO officials expressed shock that the joint venture talks had taken such an “unexpected turn”. Click here for more information.
Cartwright Comments – Positive Support Just Prior to ICC Announcement!
Rick Cartwright, is the Director of Engineering, Warewash Division for the Hobart Corporation and the Chair of NAFEM’s Technical Liaison Committee. Shortly before the ICC announcement that talks had ended, he referenced a positive article in the September 1 issue of “Consulting-Specifying Engineer”. Little did Mr. Cartwright, the magazine or the author of the article know that the ICC announcement would quickly change everything the article so positively pointed out. Click here for the link.
