CODES – NFPA 96 Comments Due December 7 From Industry
NFPA 96 in its Volume 9, Number 10 issue of NFPA NEWS is seeking comments from interested industry individuals regarding TIA Log No. 825. Comments are due December 7, 2005. This proposal calls for recognition of appliances tested by third party testing laboratories. Letters in support have been posted to date from Burger King and Hobart. STANDARDS – ASTM Publishes New Grease Filter Test Method
A new ASTM F2519-05 Standard Test Method for Grease Particle Capture Efficiency of Commercial Kitchen Filters and Extractors is now public. This elusive test method was developed at the University of Minnesota’s Engineering Department. It can be accessed at www.astm.org. STANDARDS – AMCA Elects a New International President
Emery (Pete) Neitzel known to many in the CKV industry has been elected President of the Air Movement and Control Association (AMCA). Pete has served on numerous AMCA committees as well as UL, ASTM and ASHRAE and is responsible for the development of many standards. Congratulations!
FIRE & SAFETY –UP YOUR STACK® Working to Bring Education to Midwest!
UP YOUR STACK® is currently negotiating to bring PHIL ACKLAND Seminars to the Chicagoland area in 2006. The first is tentatively planned to address an industry STRIKE FORCE of arson investigators, fire service and insurance investigators on May 10, 2006. A joint seminar in November has been proposed to include AHJ officials such as health, fire, plan review and building. Pre-occupancy issues and inspector needs regarding fire safety would be the common topic. Check our website for further information and announcements.
